Different Forms of Stress: Thoughts, Traumas, and Toxins

stressed man with eyeglassesStress is a common occurrence in today’s fast-paced world. But did you know that stress can come in different forms? At The Balanced Chiropractic Centre, we teach our practice members that stress stems from three different sources—thoughts, traumas, and toxins. It’s essential to understand how these different forms of tension affect our health and wellbeing.

Emotional (Thoughts)

Emotional stressors are one of the most common forms of stress. Thoughts related to family, work, and finances often take a toll on our mental and physical health. These types of stressors may cause tension in the body and lead to subluxation, which affects posture and the spine’s shape.

Physical (Traumas)

Traumas can be macro or micro. Macro stressors are acute and include things like car accidents or falls, while micro stressors are mostly repetitive strain injuries that occur over a long period. These types of stressors may cause significant damage to the spine and lead to subluxation. A range of issues, such as elevated blood pressure, digestive disorders, headaches/migraines, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, and allergies/sinus problems, may result.

Chemical (Toxins)

Chemical stressors are the things you put into your body, including drugs, medication, alcohol, and foods that are genetically modified or have high fat or cholesterol counts. Overly processed foods are a good example of chemical stressors. These types of stressors can have harmful effects on the body, leading to inflammation and subluxation.

How Chiropractic May Help

At The Balanced Chiropractic Centre, we understand the impact of stress on the body. When tension is present for an extended period, it can cause changes in the spine’s shape, which affects posture. Our team works to locate areas of tension in the spine, create movement, correct subluxation, and restore proper function.

Chiropractic care may help reduce symptoms related to tension, including pain and issues in systems, function, energy levels, sleep, or any type of condition. Seeking care from our team may help relieve stress and improve overall health.
